5the best EVER  Apr 10, 2007 By BG
i couldn't understand why a pair of sandals would be so expensive, but now i know. they are the most comfortable pair of sandals i've ever worn and are totally worth the price. broke them in so fast. i wear them ALL the time and i'm about to get another pair in a different color. definitely recommend!

4Rainbow sandals  Sep 15, 2008 By Evelyn King "Evelyn"
My girls went to Asia for community service camp and they came back saying that 'everyone' from the States were wearing these Rainbow sandals (leather flip flops). We're from Canada and couldn't find any stores carrying them here so we checked out the Buffalo sites and again no one carried them. Apparently they're only carried in the west coast and shipping was the only option for us. The soles mold to our feet but I find that the thong part is a little hard and gave me some sore spots on the inside of my 2nd toe for a while (hope it gets softer with wear).

4not as comfy as wide strap  Jul 29, 2008 By Markos2
I bought the narrow strap rainbows after my original thick strap started to break (after 4 years of constant wear). I've had the narrow strap for about 2 months and they're finally getting broken in after a few blisters. i'll be purchasing another pair of the thicker strap ones, but the narrow look cute as well after you break them in.

5Most comfortable, last for years  Apr 12, 2008 By angeliclark
Rainbow sandals are the best. There are a variety of comfortable cushioning with this California origin brand. The first time I wrote the double stack sandals in 2002, I felt as though I was walking in sneakers. Years later, I need to buy new ones because I haven't taken care of the leather, so it is cracked. Otherwise, I'm sure they would have lasted much longer. They take some time to break in, but they are very comfortable. Plus, with many of the casual looks that are popular with the preteen to 20's look such as Abercrombie & Fitch, these sandals compliment the look.

3Painful, bloody break-in process  Mar 03, 2012 By itsjustme
After reading several reviews stating these sandals require a break-in period, I figured, "I'm tough. I can handle it. I live in flip-flops year-round. How bad can it be?"

Well yeah, I'm still handling it after wearing these sandals daily for over a week. The good news is, my arches are getting some relief. Not nearly as much as I'd hoped, though.

You guys were not kidding about breaking in, were you? Breaking the skin, too, bleeding all over the straps because they have rubbed the skin raw. Bandages help a little, but much more of this and I am going to be running around with mummy feet. Anyone know how to get blood off leather? Or are bloodstains supposed to be some peculiar badge of honor for these things if I can endure long enough to grow some oh-so-(NOT)sexy calluses on the tops of my feet?

Whether these sandals are worth the high price -- at this point I would say no. I was hoping the arch support would be enough to justify the price. But the support is really not that great; and the chafing and pain of the straps, the thick rough sinew-like thread they used for stitching, and the sharp, skin-cutting double layer of stiff grosgrain ribbon used for the thong, are all much more severe than I expected. There are sandals out there that have better arch support and equivalent cushioning for less money, that are not exquisite instruments of torture during some unspecified-length break-in period. Pain notwithstanding, I'd rather pay less and replace cheaper sandals a little more often, than shell out big bucks for long-lasting sandals that require the patience of Job to endure break-in misery and don't even do the job very well.
