5Review by William's Wife Jen  Oct 18, 2008 By William H. Kelsey "seeker of truth"
I have several corsets and waist cinchers and I have to say that this one is my favourite. I have worn it almost daily since I bought it, and I couldn't be more pleased. Allow me to explain why this is the cincher to buy.
1)The difference between corsets and cinchers: I own both, and they both do different things even though most people think that they're the same. A corset makes the body look beautiful outside of clothes (they push the breasts up very high and pull in the waist), but in general (unless you're wearing Marie Antoinette style clothing) they don't look good under an outfit. The breasts become a single lump and the ties are usually quite visiable underneath (which defeats the entire purpose of trying to get people to think that this is your natural figure). A cincher is made to be worn under clothes, to pull in the waist, and to be as invisiable as possible. Therefore they often aren't as pretty as corsets but make much better undergarments.
2) Rago rocks! I own many shaper garments, and Rago's are by far the best. Yes, you can find cheaper brands in the department stores, but they won't hold up as well and they won't have the power that Rago's have.
3)Of the versions Rago offers on this site, this one is the best. I own the other model which is very similar except that it is lace and has garters, but it doesn't offer as much support as this one and aren't as invisiable as this one. The satin feels wonderful next to the skin and even under clingy dresses this is just about undetectable. Unless you have your heart set on garters, this is the cincher to buy.
4) The fit: like many women I suffer from "Mummy Tummy", the horrible price one must pay for having grown two human beings in her body. I am in very good shape, but nothing gets those muscles back to their prepregnancy shape besides surgery (I don't have a spare $20,000 lying around and the scar is huge and ugly). This garment instantly takes 2-4 inches off of the waist and allows one to wear fashionable clothes again without looking frumpy or silly. Another bonus is that I stood about two inches taller because it forces you to walk and sit with perfect posture. This gave me back my youthful waistline. One reviewer said that the fit is a bit tight and they run small; the fit is much tighter than what lace materials and cheaper brands offer but that's because it's a high quality product that works! Those satin panels really pull you in, but they're not uncomfortable (I felt like a sausage for the first hour I wore it, but the body heat warms it up and makes it softer without losing any control). I plan on losing about 10-20 lbs. over the next few months so I will probably buy a new one soon, but I'd recommend buying your size according to the chart. Most of the time I can fit into a small because they don't provide as much compression, but this one you need to be exact.
Anyway, if you are looking for an awesome waist cincher that is affordable, flattens your stomach and gives you a lovely "wasp's waist", and feels wonderful and comfortable next to the skin, this is the one to buy.

5The best cincher I've had  Feb 20, 2009 By Michelle Dumont
I bought this cincher to flatten and smooth my waistline beneath a bridesmaids dress. I have had two children and I have a permanent pooch in the front, I am also carrying extra weight from my last pregnancy still. While I didn't expect this to take away any inches, it does what I hoped for! My tummy is flat and my waist is nipped in the right spots. It is a comfortable garment, I expected the worst, scratchy, binding, bulging, but it is none of those things! When I pulled it around my waist, I thought it was going to be too small, it was difficult to pull the sides of it together over my baby belly, but I had ordered according to the size chart on Rago's website, so I persevered. Once it was all hooked, I could see it was the perfect size, any larger and it wouldn't have been as effective, any tighter and I would have that bulging thing going on. I recommend this for anyone looking to smooth and add shape to their waistline, for that special event or just for an everyday confidence boost!

5Performed better than expected and excellently crafted product.  Mar 09, 2010 By Traeonna Wagener "Traeonna"
I purchased a size M/28 in white. I'm in my mid-30s and had a child around 9 years ago, I have the mama-pouch in the front that I can't seem to get rid of no matter what I do. This is very well made. I sew as a profession as well as a hobby. The fabric used (not the lace part, however) is exactly the same we use at work for medical compression garments. I think this is partly the reason why this garment works so well. I was primarily looking to flatten my stomach, but this product also cinches in your waist a bit that gives you a very flattering silhouette. I have several corsets and girdles (yes, there is a difference) and I have to say, this is one of the best girdles I have ever used. I'm most likely going to get rid of my old girdles because that is how pleased I am with this product. Of course, when I am looking for a more severe waistline, my corsets are still the way to go. This garment also works well under moderately tight garments. Nothing skin tight, but I have some relatively tight shirts that you cannot tell I am wearing this underneath. With the light boning, this provides some gentle support that helps you keep your posture, which is always good. I have not had any problems breathing in this garment and the bones do not stick in anywhere. I love that it also includes detachable garters; a bonus in my book. As mentioned before, the quality of the materials used are great (except maybe the lace topping, but it's there less for function and more for the pretties!). I'm used to most of these types of garments flatting you down a bit, but making you more of a tube figure, but this one gives you a nice waist. I highly recommend this product.

5I love this thing!  Feb 07, 2010 By Sio
I got a bit chunky this last year in my tummy/hip area. I'm otherwise proportionate, so wearing anything form fitting would make my midsection look....weird.

So, I looked around to see what I could do about it. After reading some reviews, I thought I'd try out this rago waist cincher. A couple people mentioned that the sizes run small, so I heeded their advice and ordered an XL. [In other products, I wear a L.]

It was a noticeably snug fit at first (even though I ordered an XL), but I did not have a problem fastening it together, so I knew it was the right size.

It has plastic boning between the elastic-band-reinforced, stretch mesh panels. It fastens with about twenty or so hook and eye closures that go between the front two panels of the cincher. The front panels have more reinforcement and the side panels are more elastic; my tummy gets flatter and my waist and hips get curvier [in a good way.] It took a couple days to get used to, but after wearing this after a week or so, I now feel strange going out without it!

This thing rocks! So, it flattens my tummy and redefines my waist/hip ratio. Yet, there aren't any mutant bulges going on above or below the cincher! This item holds its shape, too, so don't worry about it buckling or bending back on itself. Well, perhaps if this is happening, you may need to order another size. But in my situation, it definitely felt secure. I trust this item and I dont worry that "one wrong move" will cause this thing to fall apart. And that's awesome. Because falling out of your clothes is not awesome.

Anyway, the cincher does start to ride up when i'm sitting down for a long time (e.g. while watching a movie at a theater or something). It doesn't bother me too much, but I would be lying if I said that it never became a nuisance. This could also be due to my crummy posture, but I'm not sure.

The only other drawback [I could think of] happens while wearing the cincher under a t shirt and jeans: the bottom edge of the back panels sometimes slip over the edge of my jeans. This starts pushing my jeans down while simultaneously causing my shirt to ride up. I've always kind of had this problem with jeans riding down on me, but in this case, it's being caused by the cincher's lower edge. So basically, if i'm not careful, i'll half-moon people when bending over.

As far as the stretch material goes, it is very breathable and I do not sweat/overheat while wearing it. It does also improve my posture a bit: added bonus! So yeah, I love this thing. I wear it every day now. It is also awesome for smoothing out the "hip muffins" I always get while wearing pantyhose! Those are the worst. I plan to order another cincher in a different color, so I can wear one under pretty much anything.

I definitely recommend this product. And if you are thinking of ordering one, double/triple check on the size you think you'll need, because you may have to order a size larger than you normally would.

5Order by hip measurement  Dec 20, 2010 By J. Becker
When I have put on other waist nippers, my reaction has been: "Yeah, I'm thinner, but I still don't have a figure." With the 821 model of the Rago, I have a WAIST! WOW!!

I purchased mine based on my hip measurement, because my jelly-belly gives me practically no waist at all, so nothing on the size chart matched up to my measurements. I made the right choice, size-wise. (NOTE: The Amazon size charts don't work for this product; had I used the Amazon charts, I would have bought too small a size; I used instead the Rago size chart and bought the correct size. Here is the Rago size info:
X Small (2-4), Hip 34, Waist 24;
Small (6-8), Hip 36, Waist 26;
Medium (10-12), Hip 38, Waist 28;
Large (14), Hip 40, Waist 30;
X Large (16), Hip 42, Waist 32;
2X Large (18), Hip 44, Waist 34;
3X Large (20), Hip 46, Waist 36;
4X Large (22), Hip 48, Waist 38;
5X Large (24), Hip 50, Waist 40;
6X Large (26), Hip 52, Waist 42;
7X Large (28), Hip 54, Waist 44.
You can see more pictures and info online at the HERROOM website [...]

I would post a picture, but there's no way that's happening online ;), so let me describe the effect: this reduced my waist measure noticeably, with the maximum compression to the waist, not the hip. In my case, it also pulled in my rib cage(mine is broad)& also improved my posture (which I thought was good!). Makes my figure look so much better, and the overall effect in clothing is so amazing - I swear it took YEARS off my appearance.

There was some bulging above the top (though not at the bottom), but once I put my brassiere on (which I had to tighten to the tightest hooks & I could probably wear a smaller band size when using this product), the brassiere took care of the bulge. So the bulge was not a concern.

I highly recommend that you try this product. Its design is unique in that the tapes that define the waist give you a slimmer waist as compared to other products that only squish you all over.
