Long-lasting but the studs won't stick Sep 12, 2010

PRO: JanSport makes a good packpack, as long as you get one with a suede leather bottom. (Without the suede reinforcement, your kids will likely shred the bottom of the backpack.) My child has had this backpack for 3 full school years and it still looks good on the outside. The zippers still work perfectly, the inside lining is still completely intact, which is impressive considering the ridiculous weight this backpack often holds (too much for a child, for sure). I've run it through the washing machine once on cold, on 'hand-wash' cycle ('delicate' would work), and hung it on a heavy hanger to air-dry. The rest of the time I spot-clean as needed.
JanSport is a good backpack brand in general. I've owned 3, and all of them lasted several years.
CON: The cute little studs along the bottom of the back pack are not going to last. Kids are hard on things, and my kid is no exception. Our backpack is missing about a dozen studs in various places. This could be a choking hazard if you have very little people in your home. (We don't.) For this reason, I can't give it a 5-star rating.
Overall I am really happy with the backpack. For as long as my child has been able to use it, it's definitely worth the money.
